If TAKII existed back in the 1970s, then these fabulous ladies would surely be our live-action mascots (lol). TAKII 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~ is proud to present to you 1 of the hottest imports from Japan, a female vocal pairing known by no other name than Pink Lady!

(domo arigato @ Pink Lady America for the bio info)
The Pink Lady story began in March of 1976 when Mitsuyo Nemoto (now Tsukuda) & Keiko Masuda (now Kuwaki), a schoolgirl folk duo from Shizuoka Prefecture, the Japanese equivalent to Kansas passed the audition for Star Tanjo (Birth of a Star), an amateur talent show that groomed lucky contestants for TV stardom. Dressed in bib overalls, Mie & Kei possessed a fresh faced charm & energy that convinced the show's judges to give them a good grade & its producers to invite them back.

6 months later when the girls appeared on TV to promote their debut single, "Pepper Keibu" (Pepper Police Inspector), they had been completely transformed. Gone were the overalls, replaced by slinky, spangly mini-dresses. Gone too were the chords of their girlish folk tunes, replaced by catchy lyrics & infectious disco rhythms. Also as part of their new act were their dance routines, a combination of youthful vitality, sexy moves & near robotic precision, as repeated viewings on TV made clear the girls had been programmed to dance exactly the same way every time, as though they were executing a disco version of a karate kata.

To the Japanese audience, used to seeing female pop singers make archly stylized hand gestures to accompany their bubblegum melodies, the unmistakable booty shaking of Pink Lady, as the girls were christened hit like a visual bombshell. While they could get down & boogie just like Americans, adults were pleased to see that Mie & Kei were, deep down, good, clean, hardworking Japanese girls. Kids loved them too as children's books hit the market with step by step instructions on how to imitate the choreography of the latest Pink Lady song. Soon, even preschoolers were trying out the moves in front of the TV.

In 2003, the 25th anniversary of Pink Lady's "Miracle Year", Mie & Kei reuninted to cut their 1st new single since "Pink Eyed Soul" called "Tereba Ga Kita Hi", followed by a 2-year tour which sold out venues throughout Japan. Proof positive that, after almost 30 years, Pink Lady's popularity hasn't at all waned, & their place as icons, if not legends in the world of Japanese Pop culture is most definitely assured.

....but the story doesn't stop there! After many months of research & intense scrutiny, we have figured out just what Pink Lady has been up to as of late! Featuring 2 passionate Kei/Mie fans & their special guests (To read up on who these people could be, please visit our "Guests & Performers" page), an authentic retro feel (a-la their cult classic variety show from 1980, "Pink Lady ....& Jeff"), & special effects, they promise to give their adoring fans their very best & make their heroines very proud. With that being said, it's lights....camera....& disco Pink Lady action, comin' right atcha!

"Talent is learned, but respect is earned." Based on these simple principles, I (D-chan) promise to give you all the most soulful & emotion-prevoking performance of Asian Music that any of you have heard in a very long time, with excerpts coming from my latest album, "Tamashi no Rufuran (Soul's Refrain)", released earlier this year (2007) & will be available for sale at TAKII 4.

I am a 22 year-old Japanese/Korean vocal musician that performs in the USA at various Anime/Asian Music conventions (ie: Zentrancon, Zenkaikon, Shikkaricon, Miyacon, & Setsucon, to name a few), among other venues, & TAKII has always held a very special place in my heart. To learn more about me, read my mini-bio on the "Guests & Performers" section of the website.

Through the day, I will be performing tracks you can expect to find from my album releases thus far. As a special added bonus, I will be performing songs through the day, in memoriam of a recently-deceased Japanese model/Pop star, Izumi Sakai (aka Zard, known the best for providing vocals to themes from "Slam Dunk", "Detective Conan", & "DragonBall GT", among others). May her memory live on as a shining example of vocal music excellence. 05-27-07; RIP (more info).

Born in Saitama, Japan, Natsuo Kimura had only 1 goal in mind: to live life to its fullest by taking Japanese Rock/Pop music to the (you guessed it) extreme! Now residing in Los Angeles, CA for the past 4 years, Natsuo is now known as Natz, the lead vocalist/guitarist for the dynamic Japanese Rock fusion group known as Rusika. Natz & Rusika have performed at many noteable venues on the USA's West Coast (such as SAC-Anime & Anime L.A.) & now Natz brings that same intensity only a authentic J-Rocker can to his 1st ever appearance & performance on this side of the USA, known as TAKII 4's "Rusika: USA East Coast J-Rock Debut!"! (What makes this even more special is that this festivity will mark the appearance & performance of TAKII's 1st professional J-Rocker ^-^!)

For what seems like a blistful eternity, Natz will be rocking out to some Rusika original hits & paying homage to his various Asian Music/anime influences as TAKII faithful waive their hands, stomp their feet, & scream in total ecstasy. As if that wasn't euphoric enough, Natz will also be an honored guest judge for our TAKII 4 Show! To find out more about the origins of Natz & Rusika, check out our "
Guests & Performers" page. For a sneak peak at some of those influences you can expect to hear at "Ruskia: USA East Coast J-Rock Debut!", see below:

Get up in front of all of your friends, or random strangers
(^_^), & sing to your hearts content, sans heartache! "Say 'What The %$*#' Karaoke" is a spin-off from the wildly popular MTV show that brought vocal joy & general craziness from the shores of Cancun, Mexico to Ocean City, MD, & points all over the world. You may bring your own songs, or you can rely on PDNMZ CD Shoppe's massive library of Asian Music, Anime, & video game themes, songs, & the like, consisting of hundreds of thousands of songs to choose from! To some people, this is a great way to warm-up for the "TAKII 4 Show". In any case, this event is sure to be one that no one is ever going to forget....whether that will be a good thing, or a bad thing, is anyone's guess (^_^)!
